What Is a Cantilever Racking System?
Cantilever racking is a specialized industrial storage system designed specifically for long, bulky, and irregularly shaped materials that cannot be stored efficiently on standard pallet racking. The system consists of vertical columns, horizontal bases, and protruding cantilever arms — creating an open-front structure with zero vertical obstructions along the storage face.
Unlike conventional pallet racking where items must fit within defined bay openings, cantilever racking allows goods to extend freely across multiple arm positions. This makes it the ideal solution for storing steel pipes, lumber, aluminum profiles, PVC tubes, furniture boards, plywood sheets, bar stock, and automotive components — items that are typically 3m to 12m in length.
The system is available in both single-sided (placed against walls) and double-sided (free-standing, accessible from both sides) configurations. Arm heights are fully adjustable at 75mm or 100mm increments, allowing operators to reconfigure storage levels as inventory needs change — without tools.
At Gieantech, our cantilever racks are manufactured from Q235B / Q345B structural steel, treated with a 3-step anti-corrosion process (pickling → phosphating → powder coating), and engineered to meet ISO 9001, CE, and SGS international standards. We supply to lumber yards, steel distributors, furniture manufacturers, and construction suppliers across 57+ countries.

Why Choose Cantilever Racking?
Engineered for the unique challenges of storing long, heavy, and oddly-shaped materials — no other racking type compares.
No Front Obstructions
Open-face design with zero vertical posts along the loading side — forklifts load and unload long materials without maneuvering around obstacles.
Unlimited Length Storage
Materials span across multiple arms freely. Store items from 1m to 12m+ without being constrained by bay widths or shelf dimensions.
Fully Adjustable Arms
Arm heights adjust at 75mm or 100mm increments — reconfigure storage levels in minutes as your inventory mix changes. No tools required.
Single & Double Sided
Wall-mounted single-sided units or free-standing double-sided racks — flexible configurations to match any warehouse floor plan.
Maximize Vertical Space
Heights up to 8m with multi-level arms. Convert unused overhead space into organized, accessible storage for long materials.
Indoor & Outdoor Use
Hot-dip galvanized or heavy-duty powder-coated finishes withstand rain, sun, and temperature extremes for outdoor lumber yards and steel depots.
Complete Visibility
Open structure provides clear line-of-sight to all stored items — managers can instantly identify, locate, and count inventory without climbing or moving stock.
Modular & Expandable
Add-on columns share bases with existing units. Easily extend your racking run as demand grows — no structural modifications needed.
Cantilever Racking Types
We offer a full range of cantilever racking configurations — from standard single-sided wall units to heavy-duty structural systems for the most demanding loads.
Most PopularSingle-Sided Cantilever Rack
Positioned against warehouse walls to maximize floor space. Arms extend from one side only — perfect for narrow spaces, loading docks, or perimeter storage. Ideal for lumber yards and pipe distributors.
High CapacityDouble-Sided Cantilever Rack
Free-standing with arms on both sides, accessible from two aisles. Doubles your storage positions per column run. Best for open floor areas in large warehouses and distribution centers.
Heavy DutyStructural (Heavy Duty) Cantilever
Built with hot-rolled structural steel I-beams and H-beams for extreme loads — steel coils, precast concrete, heavy machinery, and oversized building materials up to 1,500 kg per arm.
SpecialtySpecialty & Custom Cantilever
Tailored cantilever solutions for unique applications — vehicle storage, carpet roll racks, boat cradle systems, and solar panel stacking. We design custom arm profiles and spacing for your exact needs.
Anatomy of a Cantilever Racking System
Each component is precision-engineered to distribute loads safely and maintain structural stability under heavy, uneven weight.
Upright Columns
Vertical steel columns (Q235B/Q345B, 2.0–3.0mm thick) forming the backbone. Feature punched hole patterns at regular intervals for arm height adjustment.
Cantilever Arms
Horizontal load-bearing members projecting outward. Available in straight or inclined profiles (2° – 5° tilt) to prevent materials from rolling off.
Base / Foot Assembly
Horizontal base beams welded or bolted to column bases, secured with M16 anchor bolts. Provides lateral stability and distributes vertical loads to the floor.
Cross Bracing
Diagonal and horizontal braces connecting back-to-back columns for lateral rigidity and seismic resistance. Critical for tall installations and outdoor environments.
Arm Lip / End Stop
Welded steel lip at the arm tip (30–50mm height) prevents materials from sliding off the end. Available with rubber bumpers for scratch-sensitive goods.
Column Protectors
Floor-mounted heavy-gauge guards absorb forklift impacts, protecting columns from structural damage. Essential for high-traffic areas with frequent loading operations.
